Was not in Palo Duro Canyon, Texas.
Snakes on the Plain!
These photos of a nest of “Mojave green” (Crotalus scutulatus) rattlesnakes were taken in early June and sent to us. The snakes were photographed in Rosamond, California near the Rancho Santa Fe subdivision.

Wow! I’d love to meet up with those beauties in person. Do you know why they’re congregating?

I talked to the person at the front window and showed him these pictures. he said there was no such thing as this in palo duro canyon. he said those were western diamond backs and those are only in western texas around ig bend and what not. He shoed me a picture of the rattlesnakes that are in palo duro and they look nothing like that.

Those are definitely NOT western diamondbacks. They are congregating together like that because they are on a den site. The pic would have been taken in the spring or fall. They look like prairie rattlers
